Fire Escapes and Residential Egress Windows

Homeowners! Residential code requires every bedroom in new construction to have a fire egress window. An egress window needs to be a specific size in order for a fire-fighter to climb in and rescue you from a fire. If you or someone you love owns a home that was built prior to 1970, there may not be egress windows in the bedrooms to escape a fire. These older homes are grandfathered in the code and do not necessarily have to follow current code…  But when it comes to safety, you want to make sure you and your loved ones can escape a fire. Call PegArch today to schedule an in-home evaluation and check if your home is up to code.
